The Minutemen's General:

As the name suggests this build is intended to play as the general as the Minutemen. This build is the easiest to play in terms of dialogue and general actions: you always pick the "good" or "generous" options, you never ask for rewards or money and you always help people, regardless of whether you like them or not. Always protect the innocent and be an all-round nice guy.

Weapons:
Modded Laser Musket (I renamed it "Minutemen General's Musket")
(Modded) Revolutionairy Sword (renamed it "Minutemen's General's Sword")

Armor:
Minutemen General's Hat
Minutemen General's Uniform

Companions:
Preston Garvey is the natural choice. Any companion that heavily favours kind acts like Piper and Nick also work. Give Preston a melee weapon or pistol for close combat, because his default weapon really sucks if the enemy is scratching his eyes out.

Description:

The Minuteman build uses the iconic Laser Musket as your main weapon and a Revolutionary Sword as your back-up melee weapon. What is important to know, is that you will never sneak. You will always charge into the battle allowing the world to see who you fight for. The Minutemen are all about protecting the common folk and showing that they are reliable. You want the people to talk about the actions of the Minutemen, not that a group of Raiders just died out of nowhere by an invisible person.

Use your musket to open fire on the enemy and to pick enemies apart from a distance. I've found that it's less useful in close combat (especially with Preston), so the sword can be used for close combat. Another use I found for the sword is to use it on creatures like Feral Ghouls or anything else that doesn't use bullets. You'll be going through your Fusion Cells quickly with the additional charges, so using your sword to save some cells is always handy.

In the beginning of the build you will focus on your damage and resistances. This build doesn't use a power armor and while the General's Uniform is very powerful for an early game outfit you have to keep in mind that you will be hit a lot! Toughness and Refractor help with this and Lifegiver is a very nifty perk in general. The reason why I wait for a long time to pick Medic is because you can focus on consuming food and especially cooked meat for a long time before your HP becomes too big for cooked items to remain effective. Make sure you make as many food items as possible, especially Deathclaw steaks.

You only need Blacksmith II and Science! III to fully upgrade your weapons, but for those of you who want Shock damage with the sword I added Blacksmith III. The Science! IV is because I had one leftover space. You can add something else if you want to.
I didn't pick armorer because the Minutemen General's Uniform isn't upgradeable. Gun Nut is useless as well, seeing as you'll be sticking with your Energy Musket.

Sniper and Concentrated Fire are there to increase your hit chances in V.A.T.S. While you do only have 1 AG you don't need many V.A.T.S. Points. You will always try to aim for the head and if you mod your Musket to carry 6 charges you will generally be able to one-shot your enemies, except for the bosses. You only need to add two points in Perception to get to 10, because you get the Perception Bobblehead so early in the game that you can't miss it!

A second gameplay mechanic is settlements. I chose a high Charisma and the Local Leader perks because as a Minuteman you want to build large settlements with trade in between them, whether it's sharing resources between your settlements or just building shops in your settlements; Local Leader is a valuable perk to have. I also choose Inspirational for both roleplaying and pragmatic reasons: as the leader of the Minutemen you have to inspire your troops in battle! It also makes Preston more useful in combat, which is a boon when you're overrun by enemies.
I chose not to pick Cap Collector because I found it easier to turn your loot into resources for your settlements. The Scrapper perks will help immensely with this, especially when you get the second perk and need a lot of Fiber Optics.

And that is everything you need to play as a genuine Minuteman in the Commonwealth. Thank you for reading and any comment is appreciated.
Warning: this build contains spoilers for Fallout 4. Don't read this if you don't want to be spoiled. In fact, click the red cross on the upper right section of your browser. Then shut down your computer, throw it in the dumpster and cry because there are tons of Fallout 4 spoilers on the internet. :stare:

After playing Fallout 4 for a while (I know I'm late; I got the game for Christmas) I decided to make faction builds. You can't believe how many times I restarted the game just to try new builds and feel like I really belong with the many factions in this game. So I decided to make a build for the four most important factions in the game.

This build is obviously for the Minutemen faction and you will play as a kind-hearted leader who tries to do what is best for the Commonwealth. The build is recommended for those of you who love to be the good guys.

A big thank you goes to the Youtuber FudgeMuppet for giving me inspirations to make builds myself. I watched a few of their builds first to see how one should be made and I admit I largely copied their structure.

Moreover, firearms may not be too famous at all. You can still do better without it, considering its crucial role in Fallout 4 Melee Builds.
