The Brotherhood of Steel Paladin:

A Tank build through and through. With this build you will able to shrug off a ridiculous amount of damage while easily returning it with your Gatling Laser. Essentially you play as a paladin of the Brotherhood with all of their beliefs and you are essentially a soldier who follows commands.

Weapons:
Gatling Laser (modded)
(Power Armor Fists)

Armor:
T60 Power Armor (modded)

Companions:
Paladin Danse seems to be the most obvious choice, considering he's a member of the Brotherhood. Avoid travelling with both Nick and Strong. The Brotherhood of Steel hates synths and mutants with a passion and you are no exception.

Description:

The build is very straightforward: invest on Endurance perks early on to receive as much health as you can. That's why you take 10 Endurance from the start: you want to become a meat shield, even without your power armor.
Nuclear Physicist is a very obvious choice to pick as you will spend most of your playthrough in power armor. It also helps out with your Gatling Laser in the later stages of the game, as it doubles the ammo you get from every Fusion Core you can get your hands on.

Speaking of Fusion Cores, they're are going to be expensive and you will be going through them fairly quickly. That's why I suggest modding your Gatling Laser with the Charging Barrel mod as quickly as possible. It will make your weapon both a lot stronger while making the rate of fire a lot slower. This will slow down the consumption of Fusion Cores of your weapon, which is very helpful!

Science! and Armorer are your two obvious builder perks, as both of them are necessary to maintain your Gatling Laser and Power Armor. Blacksmith is a weird choice, but it depends on a choice you make. You can either choose to make your Power Armor Fists more useful and start using unarmed attacks OR you can choose to invest points in Strength to get the Pain Train perk.
Both have their own advantages:
Unarmed helps out a lot with ammo consumption and it'll allow you to effectively take down things like Feral Ghouls without using your Gatling Laser and, by extension, your Fusion Cores. The disadvantage is that you can get swarmed by enemies if you choose to take this route and that this will make you take more damage.
Pain Train is an extremely handy perk that essentially allows you to dominate the battlefield. Run to an enemy, deal damage and hit them on the ground and then take them down with your Gatling Laser while they're immobilised. This also allows you to shake off enemies chasing you and therefore sustain less damage in the long run. Unfortunately this means you will have to rely solely on your Gatling Laser and this perk doesn't work as well if your enemies are in long range.

Heavy Gunner will be taken later on in the game because it takes a while for you to get your hands on your Gatling Laser. You do get a Minigun at the start of the game, but it consumes ammo so fast that it's not a viable weapon for entire game. Keep in mind that you also don't have Gun Nut to mod the weapon, which means you can't slow down the rate of fire. I recommend that you use a modded Laser Rifle until you get your Gatling Laser.

There is no investment in Charisma and you won't focus on settlements, not even Sanctuary. You are a member of the Brotherhood of Steel. You don't need any other allies. You can choose to build the basic necessities for Preston and his gang if you want to roleplay the fact that Lyon's leadership left the Brotherhood more altruistic, but that's a personal choice. Just don't turn it into a village. You aren't here to help civilians; you are here to procure rare technology.

And that is everything you need to play as a valiant member of the Brotherhood of Steel in the Commonwealth. Thank you for reading and any comment is appreciated.
Warning: this build contains spoilers for Fallout 4. Don't read this if you don't want to be spoiled. In fact, click the red cross on the upper right section of your browser. Then shut down your computer, throw it in the dumpster and cry because there are tons of Fallout 4 spoilers on the internet. Stare

After playing Fallout 4 for a while (I know I'm late; I got the game for Christmas) I decided to make faction builds. You can't believe how many times I restarted the game just to try new builds and feel like I really belong with the many factions in this game. So I decided to make a build for the four most important factions in the game.

A build intended for those of you who played Fallout 3 and carry a lot of affection for the East section of the Brotherhood of Steel. I wouldn't say this character is either good or bad, just a soldier persuing technology.

A big thank you goes to the Youtuber FudgeMuppet for giving me inspirations to make builds myself. I watched a few of their builds first to see how one should be made and I admit I largely copied their structure.
